Jake Dixon's injury woes continue to plague his World Superbike Championship debut, as he's been ruled out of the upcoming Misano round. This news comes as a setback for the former Moto2 title contender, who made a belated entry into the HRC WorldSBK team last weekend at Aragon.
Dixon's return was short-lived, lasting only one race. He was declared unfit after the warm-up session due to increased fatigue in his recovering wrist, a consequence of a serious wrist injury sustained during pre-season testing. Despite his efforts, Dixon's condition forced him to withdraw, leaving him disappointed but understanding of the situation.
Honda initially stated that Dixon would return alongside Somkiat Chantra at Misano on June 12-14. However, this plan has been revised. The team now reports that Dixon needs to focus on a more intensive functional rehabilitation program in the four weeks leading up to Donington Park, ruling him out of the Misano event.
This development means that Dixon will be replaced by Ryan Vickers, a Honda BSB rider who competed as a wildcard in the opening round of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship in Australia. Vickers, who raced the full 2025 WorldSBK season on a Motocorsa Racing Ducati, scored a point for 15th at Phillip Island this year as a Honda wildcard.
The constant changes in riders highlight the challenges faced by the HRC team in managing their lineup. With Jonathan Rea and Yuki Kunii already stepping in earlier in the campaign, the team's strategy seems to be one of adaptability and resilience in the face of injury setbacks.
The Misano round promises to be a crucial test for the team's ability to navigate these challenges and maintain their competitive edge in the World Superbike Championship. As the season progresses, the team's performance and rider management will be under scrutiny, with the ultimate goal of securing a strong finish in the championship.
